I've always loved machines and fell in love with motor racing in 1992 when Nigel Mansell became World Drivers Champion in a Williams. My heroes were Damon Hill and John Cleland. One was unspectacular but hard working and the other was tough and exciting.
My family paid for days out at the Castle Combe Racing School and I desperately wanted to go Formula Ford racing. Unfortunately my doctor was unwilling to do medicals for race licenses and so instead I bought a Subaru Impreza and did track days.
Through a local owners club I made some good friends and first Terry Thorne and then Paul Ashton started racing in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship. In 2007 I joined them in the championship.
